The traditional Japanese puppet theater also known as "Buranku" was originally founded in Osaka, Japan over 300 years ago. The theater, which the picture for this poster, is taken from is called "Burankuza" (Buranku-za) built in the nineteenth century is the name of a specific theater in Osaka. The Japanese puppet theaters has a long and a rich tradition and is also know as the "Shakespeare of Japan".
