Two quite extraordinary sketches displaying two beautiful Siamese dancing warriors.
The posters where made by Bjørn Wiinblad as costume sketches for a play called "Around the world in 80 days" performed in 1968 at Aarhus Theatre in Denmark. The posters respectively display two elegant Siamese solo dancer - performed by a gentleman and a lady (translation of the "handwritten" text in Danish on each poster saying respectively "solodame" and a "soloherre").
These two very unique posters descends from Wiinblad's own house in Lyngby, Denmark and is really difficult to find as a pair.
The craft of Wiinblad is often colorful, lush and full of humor. He was inspired by the sumptuous oriental style far from the Nordic stylish line. This artwork is differently true to his special line - this horse rider looks like his is wearing some kind of Oriental clothing with a twist of imagination.
The views on his works are to this day very divided, but interest in his finer things are unrelenting - especially abroad (particularly the U.S., Japan, Germany and Norway). Bjørn Wiinblad's contemporaries were not exactly inclined to acknowledge his way to work, so his position as an artist has been a bit special.
Globally, Bjørn Wiinblad is one of the very best selling Danish artists. He is (among other museums) represented at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
