My absolute favorite Tivoli Gardens poster! This artwork does a great job to encapsulate the colorful scenery, the cosy atmosphere that animates the life of the old gardens in a single poster.

The poster displays the main entrance of Tivoli from 1890 with its arch and two pavilions. The sky is painted in many colors by a spectacular fireworks which is staged every Saturday night throughout the summer season.

Every year Tivoli Garden have an artist to design the artwork as an advertisement poster for the coming season. In 1965 they picked a very competent artist for the job!

This Tivoli poster is made by the Danish cartoonist Des Asmussen (1913-2004). Asmussen's works includes several drawings to include the newspapers but had a predilection for portraying Copenhagen city buildings and street life with a historically accurate depiction. Asmussen is perhaps best known for his action-packed ink drawings to Margaret Mitchell's "Gone with the Wind" from 1975. Today he is recognized as one of Denmark's best and most renowned cartoonists.

If you are thinking about having an original Tivoli Gardens poster on your wall, I would definitely recommend this piece!
